Capt. Sam Shaw Key West Fishing Charters March is here so that means we are chasing Permit. March is one of the best months to have the opportunity to catch the permit of a lifetime! Don’t be surprised if you get a big Mutton Snapper while using crabs in the shallow channels. Also, spring brings more Tarpon schools with large female Sharks invading the Flats to dropping pups Bulls, Lemons and Hammerheads. Occasionally, we have large Cobia traveling with the sharks on their backs. Goliath grouper remains plentiful with all the large schools around with and awesome Snapper Bite as well. Catching cudas on top water remains good as well. Blackfin tuna offshore remains excellent with good bait and Sailfish crashing Ballyhoo schools with Large Yellowtails and Jack Crevalle.
Capt. Sam Shaw Key West, Florida Fishing Charters February is in full swing so we are targeting Permit on the shallow wrecks and flats. Cobia and Mutton Snappers have been very consistent on the wrecks as well barracudas and jacks are in big numbers. Offshore we are chasing Blackfin Tunas, Kingfish and Wahoo with Sailfish crashing the Ballyhoo schools when they are thick. Shark fishing is awesome as well!
Capt. Sam Shaw Key West, Florida Fishing Charters The cold weather in the rest of the country has our tourist season in full swing down here in the Florida Keys. The spring time brings great conditions to target some of our favorite sport fish. March was filled with many days on the water catching up some beautiful Permit. We have also had some fun catching our clients a few sharks and barracuda which are crowd favorites. Tarpon season is rolling in. We are looking forward to fishing many of our repeat clients that travel to the Florida Keys to specifically target Tarpon which always put up an exciting fight making for a satisfying catch. We also have some clients looking to get out on the sand bar with a half day fishing followed by a cook your catch picnic at the beach with our favorite local chef Martin Liz.
As usual we had a busy holiday season down here in the Keys. While the rest of the country is shoveling show, we are busy shoveling bait into the live well with the hopes of bringing home holiday dinner. The temperatures have been mild and we have had some challenges with wind but as you can see it has not stopped us from catching Snapper, Tuna, Pompano and the always exciting Goliath Groupers which tend to be a favorite catch and release for our clients. The cooler temperatures also chase the large barracudas into shallow water making them great fun for sight casting and a great fight to get them to the boat. Our busy season is upon us and dates are filling up fast. If you are planning a trip to Key West this spring give us a call so we can get you out on the water!
The days are long, the water is warm and the fishing is hot hot hot down here in the Florida Keys. July was another successful month for Showtime Charters. While the rest of the country tuned into shark week on the Discovery Channel, we've had our share of shark trips and some close encounters of our own. During a recent spear fishing experience, we had a visit from one of our local tiger sharks. Mini lobster season wrapped up our July. While the weather during those particular two days was not ideal, we managed to snag a great lobster feast prepared by our favorite local Chef Martin Liz. Looking forward to more great days on the water as lobster season opens on August 6th. Drop us an email or phone call to book your trip for August!
The weather in the Florida Keys continues to be on our side throughout the month of June. As weather permits we love to show clients a great time near shore and off shore while the seas are calm and waters are warm. We've had a great few weeks catching some monster sharks, permit and a variety of dock to dish favorites. This week we had a great group all the way from California. We enjoyed a great morning of fishing followed up by some swimming to cool off at Snipes Key to wrap up the day. Next week we have a beach trip planned with our favorite Chef Martin Liz. Check out these great photos and book your adventure with us! Dates are filling up with mini Lobster season July 27th and 28th and regular season opening August 6th.
